Swami Vivekananda and Surrender

Last week, I was visiting a friend's place where I got to read a small booklet on life of Swami Vivekananda written by his disciples/close associates.

It was an inspiring account of his life. He had complete faith in his Master - Shri Ramakrishna. Based on that faith, he undertook a journey to the United States - a foreign land with no friends and with very little money. Its not easy to carry out work with little to no resources but just that little voice guiding within. It was a great struggle for the swamiji and his health deteriorated but he made a great impact on the West when he spoke at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago.

Sahaj Marg recongnizes Vivekananda as a highly elevated soul who influenced Sahaj Marg's formative years even though SRCM was instituted after his demise.

Everytime I hear this talk by Swami Vivekananda, I am really moved. It is very nice of you to share it in your site. Thanks for the same. I also read about the lineage of Sahaj Marg, SRCM the various conversations between Swami Vivekananda and Babuji. It is really interesting to understand the truth that there are many roads but they all lead to the same goal, and Sahaj Marg / SRCM system of meditation practice is one such path.

It somehow never occurred to me that we could hear Swami Vivekananda's voice. Thank you for posting that video. We will watch many more of them here!

After many, many years of abhyas, I finally started reading Vivekananda's writings and dialogues this past year. It has been a very eye opening experience. Reading Vivkenanda's "Raja Yoga," especially, has deepened my gratitude all the more for the extraordinary system that is Sahaj Marg. Comparing V's muscular and scientific description of the aims, goals and practices of traditional raja yoga with the grihastha ashrama, simple practice and poetic descriptions of Sahaj Marg gives me a much deeper appreciation for the brilliance with which raja yoga was adapted to modern life by our Masters and the burden of discipline and understanding our Masters carry for us moderns who perhaps no longer have the strength to carry it ourselves.

I wish you well with your blog and your abhyas.
